PROJECT 3000
RACINE, WI

On August 18, 2006 a tragic fire at Courtyard Apartments in Racine, WI destroyed a 48 unit apartment building displacing all occupants of that building. The outpouring of support and donations has been spectacular.

Through all tragedies there are always people who stand out. Two of these people are two young men from Racine, Montreal Martin, 20 and Scotty Martin, 24, who have started Project 3000 to collect donation for the victims of the fire.

The Martins have collected over $5,000 and are still accepting donations. In addition the Martins are working with many local organizations to coordinate fundraisers throughout the city. Some of the events include carwashes, taco sales and a police department versus fire department basketball tournament. They are continuing to organize more events.

Montreal is working with all faith based organizations and may contacted at 414-322-6491.

Scotty is working with all community organizations and may be contacted at 262-880-2838.

Some of the local sponsors and donors are:
  • St. Paul M. B. Church
  • Matranga's Supermarket
  • Totals 24 Supermarket
  • Magic Dollar Store
  • Treasures Christian Bookstore
  • Many other corporations that would prefer to remain in the background
Please contact Scotty or Montreal to donate to this very important cause.

First Community Days Celebration
June 16, 2006
Written by Robin Gantzert, Community Manager

Park View Village had its first Community Days Friday June 16, 2006. It was attended by ACC Staff and Management, Neighbors of Park View Village, Park View Village Residents and various agencies with housing opportunities and agencies with financial assistance. Some of those agencies included, Appleton Housing Authority, Outagamie Housing Authority, United Financial Group, Meridian Management Group, Dominion Management Group, Salvation Army, Emergency Shelter, Harbor House, FISK (Financial Information and Service Center) and Habitat for Humanity. Also in attendance was Appleton Police Department which gave a short message on "Crime Free Housing" and how to participate in keeping your home safe.

On January 1, 2006, ACC Management Group took over the management and every effort has been made to improve safety. Some of the improvements include
  • Improved parking lot and grounds lighting
  • Improved lighting in the balancing hallways
  • Building entrances have been locked and equipped with intercom system.
  • Apartment windows have slide protection and all apartment doors have deadbolts and 180 degree eye viewer.
Free lunch was grilled and many games played by adults and children which were rewarded by prizes. Also Free Drawings for prizes was appreciated by the many recipients.

Many prizes were donated by the community such as Appleton Housing Authority and area business. Some of the business included Coops Grocery, Pick and Save Grocery, Atlanta Bread, Family Video, YMCA, Arbies, Papa Murphy's Pizza, Cost Cutters, Wal-Mart Family Portrait's and more.

The head count in attendance was approximatly 150, but we just could not keep up as they kept coming! Fun was had by all and I believe the purpose of bringing the community together to work toward the area housing needs was accomplished!
